100 Days Smarter!

There is something about the 100th day that makes it truly the best. Maybe it's the streamers I hung from the door, the other "party like" decorations or maybe its the fact that my kinder babies feel like they have accomplished a huge task...whatever it is I LOVE it.

We had a jam packed day using things from my 100th day of school unit. We made Fruit Loop necklaces, crazy hats, built 100 piece creations, played a 100 chart dice game, made posters with 100 things on them, and had a snack with 100 pieces of food.

I was able to take pictures of most of what we did (yay for my New Years Resolution!) but of course forgot some things too!!

We started the day with our fruit loop necklaces. I knew these necklaces would be a time consuming task with both the counting and the fine motor skills- so we started early and everyone finished!!

We made our 100 posters next! I gave the students 10 small cups to help them count out their pieces. They put 10 of each object in their cups, had a friend check their counting, and once all their cups were full they were able to glue.

If you want the saying on each of these posters send me an email and I will get you a copy!

Of course I forgot to make the copies to let the kids use my 100th day crown so we made these "crazy" hats instead.

Next we built our 100 piece Lego/block creations. The kids did a great job building one creation using problem solving and team work!

I hope you all have a wonderful 100th day of school also!

You can also pop over to my TPT store if you are interested in my newest unit for Valentines Day!

New Years New Goals

Long time no talk, no really... whoops! This year will be different I will try keep you updated on my classroom/TPT fun and when I join a linky party I will actually finish out the week!

We have done so many things this year and I have a TON of pictures saved but I have never actually hit the "publish" button in time. This year I will make sure to get motivated. Plus I am starting to feel guilty when I have to keep whispering "nooooo" to the "have you blogged about it yet?" question.

I am not back to school with kids until Monday but I have spent some time over break getting ready for the fun that will ensue when we return. Think snowmen, penguin, MLK and the 100th day of school! I hope you will stick around and check back for the fun!

Until then I have a "100 days smarter crown"  FREEBIE to share with you. Just click the picture and it will bring you to my TPT store to grab a copy! If I told you how long it took me to figure out how to link a picture to a website you would feel embarrassed for me-- but hey thats what YouTube videos are for...??

And here to find my penguins unit!

Classroom Pictures- Favorite So Far...

I am back with Tuesday's Linky party from TBA. Since I have already uploaded pictures of my classroom this year in my first blog post, I decided to put a different spin on the classroom photos.

First I should start by mentioning that since I teach at a year round school I have been in school since early July. We have completed many beginning of the year themes already including The Kissing Hand, Chicka Chicka, Boom Boom and we are right in the middle of Pete the Cat.

One of my favorite activities we completed this year was a Chicka Chicka data graph. This project took about a week using some of our Science and Math time each day. The students loved making predictions and getting their feet wet with some fun Science.

Here is our data graph. I made the tree trunk and coconuts using a brown paper bag (with the help of my very creative teammate- who knows how to conserve construction paper when necessary!)

We had a blast trying to decide how to open the coconut. Some students thought we could bang it on the side of my desk while others thought we should throw it on the floor. We eventually concluded that we could hit it with a hammer and outside we went!

I went into a safe area (we have a bike parking space with a fence that I could go in while the students waited outside) where the students would be protected from flying coconut parts. Thirty-three hits later -- with a hammer!- I was able to open the coconut.

I incorporated many Common Core elements into this lesson with graphing, counting, observing and recording.

Check out my Chicka Chicka Boom Boom Unit on teachers pay teachers (maybe even be a follower) if you want to make your own data graph and use the recording sheets!

Meet the Teacher Monday

I am going to attempt my first linky party with TBA's "Open House Week." I tried to get the logo but have not been successful yet. I will keep trying and maybe by Friday I will have it!

Check back this week for:
Tuesday- Classroom Photos
Wednesday- Handouts for Parents
Thursday- Bulletin Board Photos
Friday- Freebies!!!!!

Now on to the meet the teacher fun.

I have been teaching for three years in a year-round school in South Florida. I have been lucky enough to stay in Kindergarten for all 3 years. I love kinder and now think I may never leave!

I recently started this blog because of the inspirational people I have "met" through blog stalking and teachers pay teachers. I spent a lot of time making things for my classroom and students. I love the look on their faces when they learn new things and I especially love making educational games where they are so focused on the fun they forget they are learning.

Outside of school I love to spend time with family, my puppy, and friends. I enjoy shopping and spending time outside by the pool or at the beach in the Florida sun. I also enjoying traveling and taking relaxing vacations. In the past few years we have visited Michigan, Chicago, Vegas, Orlando, and Georgia.

On our most recent vacation to Michigan.

Myself, my sisters, and my mom.

Stop by again later in the week to see more!
